This symposium will discuss skills and opportunities for colorectal surgeons interested in surgical education. Topics will include Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), practical tips on teaching operative skills, the importance of diversity in surgical education, and opportunities for leadership through surgical education.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Explain how EPAs can be used as an educational tool.
  • Describe best practices for teaching operative skills through progressive autonomy. Describe considerations in teaching colorectal surgery to learners of different levels.
  • Recognize the importance and how best to support diversity in surgical training.
