Young-onset colorectal cancer has been on the rise. This symposium will focus on the genetic basis of young-onset colorectal cancer, survivorship and surveillance of these patients and their families, financial toxicity for the patient and the healthcare system, and how we, as colorectal surgeons may have special considerations for these patients.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Describe the genetic basis of young-onset colorectal cancer (YOCRC) and identify strategies for prevention in YOCRC.
Interpret the functional and long-term outcomes of sphincter and organ preservation in YOCRS via screening and surveillance.
Recognize the financial impact of YOCRC for patients and the health care system.
