Purpose/Background: This video reviews three techniques for constructing robotic left-sided intracorporeal anastomoses, a novel technique taught in colorectal surgical fellowships. The discussion also delves into the intricacies of each technique and addresses potential challenges inherent in their execution.

Methods/Interventions: Utilizing a robotic surgical platform, this presentation demonstrates the implementation of three left-sided intracorporeal anastomoses: namely, a side-to-side isoperistaltic colocolonic anastomosis, a side-to-end colorectal (Baker) anastomosis, and an end-to-end colorectal anastomosis featuring handsewn purse string fixation of the anvil. The video not only serves as a visual guide to these procedures but also imparts insights into troubleshooting common challenges associated with each technique.

Results/Outcomes: All patients had uneventful post op recoveries.

Conclusion/Discussion: Multiple options exist for creating left-sided intracorporeal anastomoses. It is important for surgeons to discern and adopt their preferred approach, while simultaneously learning methods to troubleshoot challenges inherent to each method. Additionally, surgical training can be enhanced by operative video review and video presentations to improve surgical technique and optimize outcomes.
