Purpose/Background: Total mesorectal excision (TME) is a crucial part of rectal cancer surgery. The quality of TME is associated with oncological outcomes and therefore the aim of rectal cancer surgery is to achieve a complete TME with clear resection margins. This can be challenging during minimally-invasive surgery. The tips in this video presentation aim to describe how one can achieve a good operative view and technically-proficient mesorectal dissection during minimally-invasive rectal surgery.

Methods/Interventions: Two video clips have been prepared to demonstrate tips on retraction, dissection, and suctioning.

Results/Outcomes: NA.

Conclusion/Discussion: The authors hope that these technical tips on retraction, dissection, and suctioning will benefit all viewers in their next total mesorectal excision.
