The symposium "Best Practices - Cost Value Analysis" will provide colorectal surgeons with an understanding of the intersection of the concepts of quality, cost, and value. Topics covered will include the interaction between best practices and complications, examples of value metrics that incorporate both quality and cost, and the role for quality improvement in private practice. The symposium will provide attendees with a better understanding of the return on investment for quality initiatives, a current toolbox for measuring costs, and strategies to incorporate quality improvement for colorectal surgeons in private practice that minimizes burden and maximizes benefit.

Evaluate adherence to best practices and how that may mitigate the cost consequences of complications.
Explain how quality, cost, and value currently impact the field of colorectal surgery.
Identify effective quality improvement strategies for colorectal surgeons in private practice.
