Joe Carmichael, MD is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery where he also serves as Chief Medical Officer of the healthcare system. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and went on to the University of Missouri Medical School at Columbia. His general surgery residency was completed at the University of California, Irvine and his colon and rectal surgery residency was completed at the Cook County program in Chicago, Illinois.
