Dr. Beth-Ann Shanker MD, MSc and is affiliated with Trinity Hospital in Ann Arbor
Dr. Shanker was born and raised in Philadelphia, attending Central High School and graduating from Barnard College, Columbia University with honors in 1999. After working several years in research, she attended the University of Rochester receiving and MD and MSc. She completed a six-year university training program in General Surgery at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway/New Brunswick, New Jersey in 2013. She matched in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center, and followed that with a Colon and Rectal surgical residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Shanker is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. After completing her training, she moved to Trinity Health Ann Arbor Michigan. She has been fortunate to serve as Section Head of Colon and Rectal Surgery, head of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Mutlidiscplinary committee, and Associate Program Director of the Colon and Rectal Residency. She has expertise in robotic surgery, and is part of the Trinity Health Center of Excellence for Robotics. She is also core teaching faculty at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.
In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Dr. Shanker owes and success and gratitude to her outstanding team of medical assitants, nurses, Physican Assistants,Nurse Practioners, schedulers and managers that make taking care of patients a passion project.
