GIovanna da Silva, MD, FACS, FASCRS, Cleveland Clinic Florida
Dr. Giovanna da Silva is a colorectal surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Florida and holds academic appointment as Associate Professor at Ross medical school. She completed general and colorectal surgery training in Brazil, in 1999. She was a research fellow at Cleveland Clinic Florida from 2000 to 2004, after which she did general surgery residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Maimonides Medical Center, in NY from 2004 to 2009. She did her colorectal surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2009. Dr. da Silva was clinical associate in the Department of Colorectal Surgery in 2010, and has been on staff since 2011. Dr. da Silva is currently the Director of Clinical Research of the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida and Co-director of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer and Polyposis Center.
Under her leadership as a Director of Clinical Research, clinical and research fellows delivered over 150 presentations at major regional, national and international meetings, published more than 400 peer-reviewed manuscripts and more than 30 textbooks chapters. Dr da silva has been the recipient of the Scholar of the Year award 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Dr. da Silva is a member of the American Society of Colorectal Surgery (ASCRS) and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). She is a member of the research committee of both ASCRS and SAGES. She serves as reviewer for grants and participates in abstracts selection for the annual meetings. She is a reviewer of the journals Diseases of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and Surgical Endoscopy. She is currently Co-Chair of the American Society of Colorectal Surgery 2023 annual meeting.
