Dr AlKhayal graduated from Faculty of Medicine, King Saud University in 2000, after completion of his internship, he was appointed as a demonstrator in department of Surgery at King Saud University and went to Winnipeg, Canada for training, he obtained the Canadian board in General Surgery (FRCSC) in 2007, then he went to Calgary and finished a two years fellowship program in colorectal surgery including one year Colorectal research fellowship in the field of colorectal anastomotic healing in 2009. He joined Professor Seon-Hahn Kim at the Korea University Anam hospital to have a special training in robotic colorectal surgery in 2010, he returned to Saudi Arabia in 2010 to join the department of surgery as an assistant professor and consultant colorectal surgeon, he became a program director of general surgery residency program in 2011 and in 2012 he became the head of general surgery division in the department of surgery at king Saud University.
In 2016 , Dr AlKhayal has been promoted to an Associate Professor post and became fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
in 2020, Dr AlKhayal promoted to full professor post in the Department of Surgery at King Saud University.
Dr. AlKhayal is a member of many international societies including American society of colon and rectal surgeons, Canadian society of colon and rectal surgeon.
