My name is Dr. Nathan Carl English, MBChB, and I am a General Surgery resident at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa currently doing a postdoctoral research fellowhsip at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Colorectal Surgery.

I completed my medical degree at UCT in 2015. Thereafter I did my two years internship at Livingstone Hospital Complex in the Eastern Cape. I returned to the Western Cape in 2018 to complete my community service at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital (RXH) in the Division of Paediatric Surgery. After spending an additional two years in the Paediatric Burns Unit at RXH, I worked as a medical officer in the Department of General Surgery at Paarl Hospital in the Cape Winelands from 2020 to 2022.

Finally I returned to UCT in Febuary 2022 to begin my residency training before receiving a postdoctoral research fellowship position at UAB.
