Dr. Elizabeth Clement currently works at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. She received her medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and then completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta.

Dr. Clement’s academic focus is on communication, and she recently completed Harvard’s Media and Medicine course. Her research includes novel methods to explain operative and perioperative processes to patients. She is the recipient of the Canadian Society of Colorectal Surgeon’s grant, which is helping to fund a study on the use of a graphic narrative – also known as a comic – to help consent patients for surgery.
