Olajumoke Mary Megafu, also known as Jummy, is a General Surgery Resident at the University of Massachusetts. While originally from New York, she pursued her undergraduate and medical studies at Brown University in Providence, RI. Her passions lie in sustainable global surgery endeavors and colorectal surgery. Presently, she dedicates her research time to advancing both disciplines, seeking innovative ways to harmonize both worlds. Dr. Megafu has championed these efforts in addition to advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, not only within her home institution but also through collaborative efforts in Zambia and Ghana. She anticipates the ongoing enrichment from her mentors and diverse experiences as she hopes to continue to contribute to these fields.
