Lawrence B. Brown, MD, MPH-General Surgery Resident, Johns Hopkins University
Dr. Lawrence Brown is a native of Northern California. He graduated from Oakwood University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Recording Arts and a minor in Chemistry. In 2014, he completed a Master of Health Science in the School of Graduate Studies and Research at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee and then matriculated into the School of Medicine. He also completed a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy at the Yale School of Public Health in May 2018.
In May 2019, Brown graduated from the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College. Presently, he is completing a General Surgery Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He is now in his academic development period and is a PhD Candidate in Clinical Investigation at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has funding through an F32 from the NIDDK and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund to examine geographic and racial disparities in deceased organ donation.
At Hopkins, he is heavily involved in DEI efforts and serves as the Vice Chair of Inclusive Culture and Internal Affairs for the House Staff Diversity Council. Ultimately, Brown would like to marry an academic surgical career with research efforts that examine and improve healthcare access, quality, and outcomes for underserved populations.
