Russell Hollis, MD, MBA is a general surgery resident at Northwell Health, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He has completed three years of training and is currently in dedicated research time as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. In this role he is investigating mesenteric ischemia and reperfusion injury at the Center for Immunology and Inflammation. He is also dedicating time to clinical projects in colorectal surgery, including pilonidal disease, early ileostomy reversal, mental health in colorectal cancer, and colon cancer screening. He graduated from Duke University with a BS in economics and minors in biology and chemistry, writing his thesis on the relationship between reimbursement rates and quantity of patient care delivered. He then attended medical school at Tufts University and business school at Brandeis University, earning an MD and MBA through their combined MD/MBA program. He has previously authored or co-authored several local and regional presentations as well as publications in Nutrition and Health, The Laryngoscope, Surgical Oncology, and Journal of Surgical Research.
