Dr. Christopher Aquina, MD, MPH is a surgical oncologist with a special interest in advanced or metastatic cancers originating from the appendix, colon, rectum, small intestine, and peritoneal surface and is an expert in treatment methods such as cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross, Dr. Aquina earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center where he also earned a Master's in Public Health degree and completed a clinical research fellowship at the Surgical Health Outcomes & Research Enterprise. He went on to complete a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at AdventHealth Orlando. In addition to his clinical work, he is an accomplished researcher with a focus on variation in quality of cancer care delivery and outcomes. His work has resulted in numerous presentations at national and international research conferences, publications within prestigious peer-reviewed journals, and awards from multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, running, hiking, and sports.
