Aimal Khan, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery in the Section of Surgical Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
Dr. Khan earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan and completed his general surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia. He received his fellowship training in Advanced Robotic GI Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham followed by specialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas.
Dr. Khan’s clinical focus is rectal cancer, and robotic surgery. His research interests include computer vision analysis of surgical videos, development of computerized image-guided precision tools, health service research, and patient reported outcomes. He is passionate about teaching residents and medical with multiple teaching awards to his name. He also serves as the Associate Program Director for colorectal surgery fellowship and Director of Robotic Surgical Education for the general surgery residency.
He is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Association of Academic Surgery, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. He is board certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery.
