Dr. Gabriela Poles is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and program director for the colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. She completed her medical school and masters of public health at Tufts University. She then went on to general surgery training at Maine Medical Center and colon and rectal fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has an interest in outcomes research, shared decision making, and improving outcomes for older adults undergoing surgery. She is implementing the American College of Surgeons Geriatric Surgery Verification Program and serves as the surgical director for this at her institution. Additionally, she serves as a member of the ACS Geriatric Surgery Verification and Standards Committee and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Geriatric Surgery special interest group.
