Shelbi Olson, MD is a current general surgery resident at the University of Minnesota interested in colon and rectal surgery. She completed undergraduate education at Harvard University, concentrating in Human Evolutionary Biology, graduating in 2010. After one year as a volunteer teacher with WorldTeach, she worked as a clinical research assistant at the University of Kansas. She then completed medical school at University of Illinois at Chicago in 2020. Currently, she is taking a year of academic development time which involves research and clinical pursuits of colon and rectal surgery, surgical and medical education, global surgery, and clinical informatics. She is expected to graduate from residency in 2026 with intent to pursue fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery.
