Dr. Xiang Zhang (M.D., Ph.D.) is an associate chief surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Shandong Province, China. He attended Medical School of Shandong University and majored in clinical medicine. He pursued fellowship training at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, studying general surgery, and now focuses on colorectal surgery. His clinical interests include surgical and comprehensive treatment of colorectal cancer and has been a member of ESMO. Dr. Zhang won the second place of National Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Competition (2022) and joined National General Surgery Young Scholars Climbing Program. Dr. Zhang acquired his doctoral degree from Shandong University and once studied at the University of Adelaide as an exchange Ph.D. student focusing on bariatric surgery research. Now Dr. Zhang runs a basic science laboratory studying physiology and metabolism of the gastrointestinal tract and has published papers in Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, Metabolism, Diabetes Care, JCEM and Obesity Surgery.
