Munir Buhaya is a PGY3 general surgery resident at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He is originally from El Paso, Texas -Ciudad Juarez, Mexico border region. He graduated with a B.S in Microbiology from the University of Texas El Paso, and he obtained his medical degree from McGovern School of Medicine at UTHealth in Houston, Texas. In between college and medical school, he completed a post-baccalaureate research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He is passionate about increasing representation of underrepresented groups in surgery and addressing health disparities. He likes to cook, play soccer, and hike.
