Dr. Gabrielle Dombek, MD, grew up in Miami, Florida as a second-generation Cuban American. She obtained her Bachelor in Science with honors in Biology and Psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She graduated from medical school from the University of Florida where she received the Lawrence M. Goodman Trust Research Award for her clinical research in health literacy and served in leadership roles in the Equal Access Community Clinic, Medical Students for Choice organization, and ACORN Free Dermatology Clinic Coordinator. She completed her general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where she spent three years of professional development time as a translational glycobiology researcher and obtained grant funding from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons to support the development of a tissue collection program. She served as Reviewer’s Guild member for Diseases of the Colon & Rectum journal and on the Surgical Bootcamp steering committee. She is now completing her fellowship in colon & rectal surgery at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. Her clinical niche and interests are in inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, colorectal cancer, and benign anorectal disease.
