Mr Ross Keir McMahon (MRCS MBChB BMSc) is an NHS General Surgical Registrar (West of Scotland Deanery) and Clinical Research Fellow (University of Glasgow) within The Glasgow Royal Infirmary Academic Unit of Surgery. His clinical and academic interests relate to the management of rectal cancer. His particular focus is on radiotherapy response in locally advanced rectal cancer, and the expansion of techniques to achieve greater rates organ preservation in patients.
He is in the third year of his PhD investigating the clinicopathological characteristics of radiotherapy response in rectal cancer. He is supported and supervised at The Glasgow Royal Infirmary by Professor of Colorectal Surgical Oncology, Campbell Roxburgh. Mr McMahon’s current work focuses on systemic/host and histological predictors of response, as well as image analysis in this context. Future collaborative work with Professor Emiliano Spezi at Cardiff University in Wales will aim to link systemic and histological signatures to imaging biomarkers of response.
