Enhanced recovery pathways in colorectal surgery have been widely implemented but there is still work to be done. What opportunities for enhanced recovery remain? This symposium will survey essential opportunities for continuous care improvement in the enhanced recovery context. Topics include where are enhanced recovery programs still falling short (limitations of enhanced recovery in vulnerable populations), the need to revise with evolving evidence (multimodal pain), and where further enhancement remains (same-day discharge colectomy).
